Innovative Solutions for a Safer Environment

Disinfectant

Our company’ has developed a system for the production of disinfectant, which due to its characteristics and technology can’ also be installed at the user’s premises, or for large quantities inserted in a production and bottling and distribution centre.

Description of Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl)

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a weak acid that occurs naturally in the human immune system. It is produced by white blood cells (neutrophils) to combat pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. As a biocide, HOCl is a highly effective and fast-acting disinfectant and sanitizer with a wide range of applications in healthcare, food safety, water treatment, and environmental sanitation.

Key Characteristics:

  • Chemical Formula: HOCl
  • pH Range: Typically used in solutions with a pH between 4.5 and 6.5
  • Oxidation Potential:48 V, making it a powerful oxidizing agent
  • Non-toxic and Biocompatible: Safe for human contact (skin, eyes, wounds)
  • Non-corrosive: Gentle on surfaces and equipment when properly formulated
  • Rapid Action: Kills most pathogens in seconds to minutes

Advantages over Traditional Disinfectants:

  • Superior Efficacy: More effective than chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite) at lower concentrations.
  • Safe and Non-irritating: Unlike bleach or alcohol-based disinfectants, HOCl does not cause skin irritation, respiratory problems, or toxic residues.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Decomposes into water and salt, leaving no harmful by-products.
  • No Need for Rinsing: Can be applied without the need for post-application rinsing, especially in food-contact or sensitive environments.
  • Wide Spectrum Antimicrobial Activity: Effective against bacteria (including MRSA), viruses (including enveloped viruses like coronaviruses), spores, and fungi.

Main Uses and Applications:

  Healthcare and Wound Care: Used for wound irrigation, infection control, and surface disinfection in hospitals and clinics.

  Food Industry: Sanitization of food-contact surfaces, equipment, and even direct application on produce.

  Drinking Water Treatment: Safe for disinfecting potable water without harmful residues.
